In conjunction with Ramadhan al-Mubaraq celebrations,
Hong Leong Islamic Bank ("HLISB") had organised
a 'Buka Puasa' gathering for 62 deserving children
from Rumah Penyayang Nur Iman, as part
of HLISB's continuing commitment towards corporate
social responsibility.
At the dinner, Daud Vicary Abdullah, Managing
Director of HLISB, presented a cheque of RM10,000
to Ustazah Sarimah, the caretaker of Rumah Penyayang
Nur Iman, towards the upkeep of the home. The
children received a double treat - 'duit raya'
and goodie bags from HLISB, followed by balloons,
ice cream and boxes of dried dates courtesy
of Berjaya Times Square Hotel. The Bank was
touched by the warmth and kindness extended
by the hotel's management team.
"We are happy that the children had fun today
and we sincerely hope that the children will
continue to see their life in a positive way,"
said En Daud at the dinner. "They are always
in our thoughts and we pray that they will always
have the self-confidence, support and the courage
to pursue their dreams," he added.
The Bank employees were very excited at the
prospect of meeting the children again, as part
of the Bank's efforts to reach out to a bigger
family. In a similar event last year, HLISB's
contribution was in the form of a Hari Raya
shopping spree and a fine dinner. The big smiles
on the children's faces were reward enough for
the team who had volunteered their time.
In thanking HLISB for their contribution, Ustazah
Sarimah said "We really appreciate the assistance
given by corporations such as Hong Leong Islamic
Bank. Your kind donation will help to ensure
that the children will get the education they
deserve." Located in Taman Setapak, the home
provides care and shelter to abandoned, orphaned
and autistic children between the ages of 6
and 16, including 5 toddlers aged between 6
months and 2 years.
